Legal
Code of Conduct
Our commitment to ethical, fair, and responsible lending: the principles we hold ourselves accountable to.
Our Six Core Principles
These principles govern how Edge Funds operates — internally and in all customer-facing interactions.
Transparency
We disclose all costs, rates, fees, and terms clearly before any loan agreement is executed. No hidden charges. No ambiguous fine print.
Dignity & Respect
Every borrower is treated with respect at all times, during application, repayment, or in the event of default. We do not engage in humiliation, threats, or coercion.
Fair Treatment
Lending decisions are based solely on creditworthiness criteria, not ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or political affiliation. We apply consistent standards to all applicants.
Responsible Lending
We assess each applicant's ability to repay before extending credit. We do not knowingly lend to individuals whose repayment capacity is insufficient.
Ethical Collections
We never access your phone contacts, gallery, or call logs. We prohibit harassment, threats, public shaming, social media exposure, or contact with persons not disclosed as references. Collections are professional and lawful only.
Anti-Fraud & Integrity
We maintain zero tolerance for fraud, bribery, or corruption — internally and in dealings with customers, partners, and regulators.
1. Our Commitment to Borrowers
Edge Funds commits to:
- Providing all loan terms in writing before disbursement
- Giving borrowers adequate time to review and understand their obligations
- Offering clear explanations of interest, fees, and repayment schedules
- Responding to all enquiries within 24 hours on business days
- Notifying borrowers of upcoming payment dates in advance
2. Prohibited Conduct
The following practices are strictly prohibited by Edge Funds staff, agents, or collection partners:
- Harassment, threats, or use of intimidating language toward borrowers
- Contacting borrowers at unreasonable hours (before 7am or after 9pm)
- Publishing or threatening to publish a borrower's personal information or loan status on social media or any public platform
- Contacting family members, colleagues, or employers not designated as references or guarantors
- Requesting, accessing, uploading, or storing a borrower's phone contacts, photo gallery, call logs, or SMS messages — this is prohibited absolutely, with or without consent, and we do not request the device permissions that would make it possible
- Requesting or accepting blank cheques from a borrower or guarantor as security
- Charging fees not disclosed at the time of the loan agreement
- Discriminating against applicants based on gender, religion, ethnicity, or disability
3. Default & Collections
If a borrower defaults on a loan, Edge Funds will:
- Issue a formal written notice of default within 5 business days of missed payment
- Offer a restructuring or repayment plan discussion before any legal action
- Provide a minimum of 30 days' notice before initiating formal recovery proceedings
- Engage only licensed and FCCPC-compliant debt recovery agents where outsourcing is required
- Report defaults to credit bureaus only after 30 days of non-payment and prior written notice to the borrower
4. Staff Standards
All Edge Funds employees and agents must:
- Treat all customers and colleagues with dignity and professionalism
- Maintain strict confidentiality of customer data
- Declare and avoid conflicts of interest
- Report any observed violations of this Code to management or via the whistle-blower channel
- Complete mandatory compliance training on anti-money laundering and consumer protection annually
5. Whistle-Blower Protection
Any person — customer, staff, or third party — who reports a violation of this Code in good faith will be protected from retaliation. Reports may be submitted confidentially to hello@edgefunds.com with the subject line "Conduct Report".
6. Enforcement & Review
This Code is reviewed annually. Violations by staff may result in disciplinary action, including termination. Violations by third-party agents will result in contract termination. Customers who believe this Code has been violated may file a formal complaint as outlined in our Complaints Policy.
